NutriScience – one of Irelands leading equine health care companies – has recently announced it is to sponsor the 2016 Waterford and Tipperary Pony Summer tour and we at Mackey Ireland are delighted to team up with them to offer budding young showjumpers even more prizes in this fantastic series!
The series will commence with the first outdoor show of the year at Ballylawn Show – home of Francis Connors – on the 2nd May and culminate with fantastic finals at three venues in October, Ballinamona Equestrian Centre, Waterford, Tipperary Equestrian Centre, Thurles and The Ballyrafter Centre, Lismore.
Three events will come under the NutriScience banner and benefit from extra Mackey prizes, namely;
NutriScience Tour G. 128cms 90cms.

Nutriscience Tour J. 148cms 1-10m.
Competitions will take place at all SJI registered shows throughout Waterford and Tipperary including the large county shows Clonmel and Dungarvan and participants may travel from all corners of Ireland to partake. The tour will bring a whole new dimension to the pony jumping whereby points won during the season will allow athlete/pony combinations to qualify for the Grand Finals
Athlete/Pony Combinations must achieve a minimum of 15 SJI Points within each Tour at Waterford / Tipperary Branch Shows and Leagues throughout the summer to be eligible for the final. Points can be gained by all members of SJI at all Waterford/Tipperary Shows and Leagues where the relevant classes take place. Qualifying Points must be gained by the 30th September. The Grand Finals of each class will take place on the 23rd October 2016 at the Ballyrafter Centre, Lismore where many of our top national and international riders started their pony careers!
Prizes for the Grand final will be sponsored by Nutriscience and Mackey Ireland. Nutrisciences’ General Manager, Michael Healy is delighted to be part of this summer series commenting, “Our range of products is growing in popularity every year and we now distribute to over 20 countries across four continents. We get excellent feedback on our product’s results, ranging from issues such as lameness, digestive health, or calming, and this is a great initiative to support pony riders who are developing their own abilities in the competition ring. We are appreciative also our Irish equine distributors, Mackey Ireland’s keenness as usual to get involved with us to support Waterford and Tipperary SJI in this pony rider initiative.”
Our own Rosalind Mackey, sponsorship manager here at Mackeys, comments “Mackeys have been a long-time supporter of Showjumping in Ireland, with the Mackey Five Bar training system becoming a core component in rider development within the sport. Our pony riders are the future of showjumping and we’re delighted to partner with NutriScience to support this fantastic new series.”
The league is set to be a welcome initiative in developing both ponies and riders as they compete weekly, honing their skills for top level competitive showjumping, all culminating in what should be an exciting and highly competitive final.
